Bingeworthy TV Shows – Top Ten Tuesday

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday post but I am back with one that I have really loved writing! This is a blog meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. I love watching TV and I probably couldn’t tell you all the TV shows I’ve ever watched. Like books, I’m always craving new content and new stories to consume, no matter what they are. So when I saw that this week’s topic was binge worthy TV shows I just knew I had to get writing! There are so many shows I love I’ve tried to give a range of different types of show so that there might be something for everyone here! Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. Queer Eye

Where to watch: Netflix

I had to start with one of my newest favourite TV shows. This reality TV show is about a group of five gay guys – known as the Fab Five – set out to Atlanta to help the city’s straight men refine their wardrobes, grooming, diet, cultural pursuits, and home décor.

This is honestly such a heartwarming show and it makes me so warm and fuzzy inside. There are 8 episodes per season but it’s honestly not enough. I’m always craving more from this show and I don’t think I would recommend any TV show more.

2. Stranger Things

Where to watch: Netflix

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Stranger Things by now, but if you haven’t this science fiction TV show follows the story of a boy who disappears and his mum, a police chief and his friends who face terrifying forces and uncover impossible truths in order to get him back.

This is one of my favourite shows and it is so gripping. I love the world and the creatures and the characters are just to die for! If you haven’t even given this a go yet I would definitely recommend doing so!

Where to watch: YouTube, Google Play

LOST follows the story of the survivors of a plane crash who land on a seemingly deserted tropical island. There is so much mystery and intrigue in this show it is impossible not to get sucked in. This show has some of my favourite characters of all time, some of the most heartbreaking scenes of all time, and some of the most contrived plot lines of all time. But that doesn’t stop it from being completely addictive and a show that everyone should watch at least once!

4. The Legend of Korra

Where to watch: YouTube, Google Play

This sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender follows Avatar Korra and her fight to keep Republic City safe from evil forces. You shouldn’t let the fact that it’s a sequel series put you off – I actually watched this show before I watched Avatar, so you shouldn’t be confused about what’s going on, but there will be a few minor spoilers.

I loved this show and watched it super quickly. I love the characters and storylines in this show, but I think what’s best about The Legend of Korra is its portrayal of morals and messages. It’s a story about prejudice, about strife, about love and friendship, and it’s perfect for all ages.

5. Doctor Who

Where to watch: Netflix

I’m British, I love sci-fi, how can I not be obsessed with Doctor Who? This has been such a huge part of my life since I was 9 years old and my love for it has only grown. While I haven’t loved the era during the time that Stephen Moffat took over as head writer, I still did really enjoy those seasons and I am so looking forward to Jodie Whittaker taking over as the Doctor.

For those of you who don’t know, Doctor Who is about a time-travelling alien adventurer called The Doctor. The Doctor is a Time Lord/Lady who can change appearance and gender when the regenerate near death and the story follows The Doctor and their human travelling companion as they travel through time and space.

6. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Where to watch: Netflix, YouTube, Google Play

Honestly, what drew me most to this show was that it was starring Elijah Wood. But what made me stay was the wacky and wonderful story about a

who investigates cases involving the supernatural. The show truly is weird, to say the least, but I really do love this show and I am so so sad that it got cancelled.

7. Gossip Girl

Where to watch: Netflix, YouTube, Google Play

I had to include this in here. It’s the perfect show to get all wrapped up and sucked into. It’s not necessarily the best show ever written but I can guarantee that once you start watching you won’t be able to stop. Gossip Girl follows privileged teen socialites living in New York and the secrets that unfold through the infamous blogger known as Gossip Girl.

8. Grey’s Anatomy

Where to watch: Amazon Prime, YouTube, Google Play

Grey’s Anatomy is a medical based drama centered around Meredith Grey, an aspiring surgeon. The series focuses on the professional and personal challenges the surgical team face at Seattle Grace Hospital. This is a true Shonda Rhymes soap opera filled with love affairs, heart break and so much death.

If I had to pick one show to include on this list it would have been Grey’s Anatomy. I have binged this countless times and it only ever gets better. The show is so suspenseful and gripping. When you start watching you’ll think it’s a nice, enjoyable show, but before you know it you will be so invested you won’t know what hit you. You’ll be hiding behind your hands for full episodes, so nervous to see what’s going to happen next!

9. Nashville

Where to watch: Now TV, YouTube, Google Play

This show makes me so emotional. If you love music this show is a must watch as it follows the lives and tragedies of  fading and rising country music superstars Reyna Jaymes and Juliette Barnes.

This was a show that I was convinced I wouldn’t enjoy, but to this day it is one of the only shows that can still make me cry. Even though it can be so sad at times, that does not mean it doesn’t have it’s fair share of joy and happiness. On top of that the music is incredible and you get countless new songs every season that you just can’t help but sing along to.

10. Merlin

Where to watch: Netflix, YouTube, Google Play

Merlin was one of the first TV shows I ever truly fell in love with. Merlin tells the story of the legendary sorcerer as a young man when he’s just a servant to a young Prince Arthur. Taking place against the backdrop of Camelot, Merlin and Arthur soon become best friends while facing the challenges of rival kingdoms, armies and magic beasts. This show is just delightful and I urge every single one of you to watch it.
