Hey guys, what’s up, welcome back to another Blogtober post! Today I’m bringing you the top 10 spooky/horror movies that I want to watch this month. I have always been a bit apprehensive about horror movies. The movies that I have seen I’ve enjoyed, but I think that I just get a bit scared of the unknown. Every horror movie is different, and every movie fits into its own sub-genre of what horror means to them – this means jump scares, gore, psychological, slasher, ghost, etc. With such a wide array of what a movie could turn out to be I don’t think it’s surprising that I feel this way about these kinds of movies. But this month I want to challenge myself to tick 10 more movies off my list.
Just to let you guys know there will be no Blogtober post tomorrow. I know the aim of Blogtober is to post every single day of the month, but tomorrow is my Grandmother’s funeral and I don’t want to be distracted by anything. I feel like this is a the right thing to do. In the meantime, please check out the first 10 blogposts I have already uploaded (including this one) starting here.
1. Get Out
Yes, I admit it, I still have not seen Get Out. I need to watch it. ASAP. That’s all I have to say.
2. A Nightmare on Elm Street
This is a classic. If someone is talking about horror movies this one always comes to mind so I should probably at least try to give it a go. Also, honestly, I think it’s about time that I understand all those Freddy Kruger references.
3. An American Werewolf in London
I own this on DVD and I know my mum likes this movie. It looks interesting and I think I will enjoy it so I’m looking forward to checking it out.
4. Fright Night
This is another classic and looks genuinely good. I don’t know too much about this movie but I’m confident that I’m going to enjoy it.
5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This looks like a truly raw and intense movie and I know it’s something so different to what I’m used to. I’m interested in this and I’m intrigued to what my response to this movie will be.
6. IT (1990)
I watched the new IT movie when it was released and I really enjoyed it. I’m actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. So I want to give both the original movies a go for, if anything, Tim Curry’s Pennywise.
I know so many Beetlejuice references and yet I don’t truly know what they’re about. For me, the main reason why I want to watch this movie is because I’m a writer, and I think it’s truly important to know your pop culture if you’re writing modern stories.
8. Donnie Darko
I am not sure if I’m going to like this, but I’m going to give it a go. I know I’ll gain something from watching this, even if it freaks me out a little bit.
9. The Corpse Bride
I love Helena Bonham Carter so I can’t believe I haven’t watched this movie before. I don’t really know what held me back, but I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy it.
This might be surprising, but this is honestly the movie I am most anxious about watching. I don’t know what it is, but the animation in this movie really creeps me out, and the idea of actually watching it makes me really nervous. I am looking forward to finally watching this, but it’s the one that I am definitely going to watch in the day time.
Do you guys like any of these movies? What other movies would you recommend?
